Our Mission

To support bereaved individuals and open the conversation around suicide-related grief.

Bereavement in all forms can be traumatic, however suicide often brings a range of added emotions to navigate.

The team’s passion for helping others deal with this specific type of grief comes from a variety of personal experience of losing a loved one to suicide. It all started with our co-founders, Amelia and Emma, who both lost a parent to suicide. With their entrepreneurial spirit and empathetic nature, this double act is determined to do things differently; providing the support needed whilst also opening up the conversation and addressing the stigma.

We strongly believe in the power of conversation and use a variety of initiatives to spark conversations and encourage open dialogues around bereavement from suicide and mental health more generally. In terms of the services we provide, we focus on one-on-one professional support through talking therapies offering our Counselling Service and Helpline.

There are also lots of resources on our website for you to explore that can support different aspects of your grief journey (e.g. books and podcast recommendations).

We’re glad you’ve found us and whatever your situation we hope we can support you today.

Our Celebrity Ambassador

Shirley Ballas

Shirley has been an Ambassador for Suicide&Co since late 2023, after supporting us by hosting our Fundraising Gala. Shirley is a huge advocate for our mission and we are so grateful for her support in raising awareness of our services and we are proud to have her on this journey with us to open up the conversation about suicide loss.

Shirley Ballas is a champion ballroom dancer, world-renowned dance teacher and adjudicator, best-selling author, and the head judge of BBC1’s flagship show Strictly Come Dancing.

In addition to her role on Strictly, Shirley has been seen giving masterclasses and commentating on the American series Dancing with the Stars, is a frequent panellist on Loose Women, and was the subject of BBC1’s Who Do You Think You Are?

Shirley’s sensational biography Behind The Sequins was released in 2020 to critical acclaim, immediately becoming an Amazon best-seller.

Whilst Shirley continues in her role as head judge on the biggest show on British television, she has also proved herself to be one of the country’s most versatile and much-loved personalities.
