A caravan retreat for families bereaved by suicide

Quinn’s Retreat is an amazing charity with a unique concept to provide a holiday stay for families bereaved by suicide. The charity was set up by a couple in County Durham, after the tragic loss of both their daughter and son to suicide in 2018 and 2019. Quinn’s Retreat is a static caravan in Barnard Castle that sleeps up to 6 people for free!

Founders Tracey and David created Quinn’s Retreat for anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide, is struggling with suicidal feelings, or has an ongoing inquest. The aim of this retreat is to provide these families with a break from their situation and an opportunity to have some time away to remember their lost loved one, as well as providing them with a time to take care of their own mental health.

We’ve spoken with Tracey and she’s a lovely woman who truly cares about making these breaks special for others, which is so selfless considering everything they’ve been through as a family. She arranges little welcome packs, greets the guests and they’ve had lots of compliments about the time people have had there. They’re actually booked up until October 2021, but if this is something that sounds up your street you can keep an eye out for availability!
