StrongMen - A charity supporting bereaved men

StrongMen is a brilliant charity with a unique concept around tackling mental illness for bereaved men. It focuses on the benefits of improved physical and emotional health in men through their retreats, helpline and talks. They provide funded weekend breaks for men aged over 18 who have suffered the bereavement of a spouse, child, parent or sibling. We caught up with Dan, one of the co-founders, and were really moved by his story and the work they’ve done. Different things work for all of us and we think this is a great fit for any man out there who’s into fitness and is suffering from bereavement. You can find out more about their mission and how to apply for a weekender on their website below.

As well as their weekenders they’ve launched a telephone-based peer support service called Man2Man, where you can talk to a trained StrongMen volunteer who has first-hand experience of losing a loved one. StrongMen also offers talks and drop in sessions on mental and physical help and bereavement, that you can enquire about here.
