When you’re bereaved by suicide, there’s so much silence and isolation that can come with it. But remember, you are not alone.

We’re asking our community to express their feelings and continue conversations by writing down what they would have liked to say, or would now like to say, to the person(s) that they’ve lost.

Would you like to submit a letter? Below is a little guidance 

  • It can be long, or it can be just a few words.

  • The only thing that matters is sharing your story and your feelings.

  • You can use names, or you can keep it nameless. You can use a nickname, or your relation to that person. 

  • You can be as specific as you like. As open as you like.  

Through encouraging the writing and sharing of letters to those who we’ve lost, we hope to help you, and show others that you always have company and that expressing your feelings can make all the difference when you’re going through suicide-related bereavement. Lots of people find things easier to write than to say, and if you choose to keep and even to share your letter, it forms a lasting tribute to your loved one.

When reading the letters or writing your own, please remember to practice self-care. Give yourself the space to consume the content and write your words. Remember that our services are here should any of this trigger you or make you feel like you want to talk to someone.
